We are a technology company that has developed a commercially proven patented process to convert juvenile plantation logs into wood products with the look, feel and mechanical properties of mature forest trees. The conversion happens in Digital Production Units in a controlled manner through robotics and artificial intelligence, with the ability to co-create 3RT wood fit-for-purpose for the chosen applications.
 
We help our customers respond to the increasing demand for sustainable wood products, with the potential to replace aluminum, steel and concrete in both the furnishing and construction industries, through a technology that is easily scalable and with attractive economics.

What you'll do for 3RT

  • As the Technical Manager 3RT Europe, you will play a central role in translating market needs from European wood multinationals into actionable solutions for 3RT. Working closely with the Head of EU Business Development, your expertise in engineered wood will enable you to identify tailored, high-performance wood solutions that meet the strict regulatory standards of the European market.

  • You will serve as the key technical liaison between 3RT’s European customers, its Innovation Center in Australia and local production sites to ensure that all customer requirements are clearly translated into actionable R&D briefs. Additionally, you will work with European certification bodies and 3RT’s technology partners to develop and oversee testing protocols to ensure compliance with European wood legislation, guaranteeing that 3RT’s products meet or exceed industry standards.

  • External interactions including regular customer visits will be an important part of the job.

    • Key Responsibilities:

  • Client-centered innovation: Work directly with multinational customers to understand their pain points and technical challenges, ensuring that 3RT’s solutions are customized to meet their needs while advancing their sustainability goals.

  • Engineered wood product market expertise: Serve as 3RT’s expert on the EU wood product markets, opportunities and challenges. Provide technical insights during client engagements, advising on the integration of 3RT’s solutions into their manufacturing processes. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in the European engineered wood industry, as well as evolving regulatory requirements. Ensure that 3RT’s products are at the cutting edge of innovation and sustainability in the European market.

  • Internal technical liaison: Collaborate closely with the EU Head of Business Development to gather customer requirements and translate them into detailed technical briefs for the 3RT Innovation Center in Australia. Ensure that all proposed solutions are technically feasible, fully compliant with regulations, and aligned with 3RT’s innovation capabilities.

  • Regulatory compliance and testing protocols: Partner with certification bodies to develop and implement testing protocols to ensure 3RT’s wood products comply with European wood standards and regulations. Provide expert guidance on navigating regional legislation, ensuring products are market-ready and meet all necessary certifications.

Your Qualifications

  • Expertise in engineered wood: Extensive experience in the engineered wood industry, with a deep understanding of wood processes such as LVL, CLT and Glulam.

  • Comprehensive understanding of European wood industry legislation, including testing protocols and compliance standards. Proven ability to develop and oversee testing procedures that ensure compliance with European standards.

  • Technical translation skills: Ability to translate complex client requirements into clear, actionable R&D briefs for innovation teams. Experience collaborating with R&D and product development teams to deliver customized solutions.

  • Client-facing technical expertise: Experience engaging with high-level technical stakeholders at multinational corporations, particularly in developing bespoke solutions and addressing complex technical challenges.

  • Problem-solving and innovation: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to propose innovative wood solutions that meet client demands and industry regulations.

  • Willingness to travel: Ability to travel extensively across Europe to engage with customers, attend industry events, and collaborate with internal teams.

  • Educational background: Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Forestry, or a related technical field, with a focus on wood products or adhesives preferred, with a work experience of more than 10 years
